Anne Davies 2

With ANZAC day commemorations preceding the later race start for LRC, Anne Davies appeared to enjoy the PM timeslot to record a 30 second victory in the Active Physiotherapy Tail Race 5km Hcp. Anne managed to hold out Shaun O’Reagan by 30 seconds and Max Loffal a short distance behind for third. Anne must also enjoy the course as she has won at the Tail Race previously.

Fastest male runner was the young and talented Damon Whish-Wilson in a cracking 17:48. While in the female section both Katherine Whitmore and the rapidly developing Ally Wrigley clocked identical times of 20:05. A total of 59 runners participated in this ANZAC Day event…. a great turnout!

The junior divisions also provided large fields and a total of 32 runners with Hope Darsaklis breaking through for her first win for some time in Division 2 beating home Ella Boxhall by  just 5 seconds and Bianca White showing good form for third. The fastest runners were Ella Boxhall in a rate of 4:10 per km and Corey Stanley in a quick 3:24 per km. Great to see Corey at the finish congratulating other competitors as they crossed the line…. well done. In division 3 another Darsaklis  come away with the victory, this time Harry who claimed first place to Averyl Quinn and Chloe White in third. Averyl was also the fastest female runner with 4:19 per km and Luke McHugh with 3:55 per km.

Next weeks race is the Ultrain Youngtown trail 6km Hcp….. a tough loop starting at the Youngtown Memorial Oval at the usual time of 10am for the juniors and 11am for the division 1 competitors. A race to help prime you for a couple of the longer races coming up on the calendar.       See you there!
