Carolyn Farrar in winning her first LRC race, took out the prestigious Intas Group Scottsdale to Bridport half marathon today.  In very blustery conditions, Carolyn ran a fantastic race to record her half marathon PB, catching the eventual second place-getter Narelle Whelan in the last 500 metres.  Third home was veteran Richard Pickup who held off a fast finishing Debbie Pauna in fourth place.  Johnno Claridge was the fastest of the 61 finishers in a slick time of 1:19:40, with Tracey Tasker the fastest female in 1:33:48.  Well done to all runners who competed in at times very tough conditions, with 40-50km/hr relentless head wind gusts.  Thank you to everyone who helped make today’s event a success: our sponsors Intas Financial Services, team Frost for coordinating the drink station, Kurt and Doris Geier and Danny Whelan for marshalling and...

Kool Katie Conquers Longford 8km

Posted by on Aug 5, 2017 in Updates | 0 comments

The rain stayed away long enough for the Scott Smith Orthodontics Longford 8km Hcp to be run in dry conditions with only the moderate headwind to contend with in the last 4km. Club secretary Katie Proctor ran a pace consistent and strong race to edge out Jozina Goedhart into second and Strawb Anderson for third. Katie has been getting stronger and showing improvement recently after many months on the injury list at the beginning of the year. As for Jozina, she has been consistent by collecting second place two weeks in a row. Fastest male was Brodie Triffett in a time of 30:29 and fastest female was Paige Wierenga in 36:30. It was great to see our race sponsor Scott Smith pull the runners on for the first time this year and undertake presentation duties after the race. No...

Posted by on Jul 29, 2017 in Updates | 0 comments

Jobe Tai has had a goal to run every race at LRC this year and he’s almost done it – on top of almost achieving that, he won the Wes Jones family 8k today at Westbury.  As Jobe and his family are leaving Tasmania at the end of 2017 this win was also very bitter sweet, the entire family will be missed at the LRC!  Jozina Goedhart finished strong to take out the 2nd place and Barry Jones (one of the Jones’ family) took out third.  The fastest male was Matthew Zegveld in a time of 29.47 and the fastest female was Carolyn Farrar. A number of members of the Wes Jones family attended the race today – four members of the family ran in the race and the rest of them volunteered in various ways.  We’re very thankful for their...
