Strawb

40 die-hard runners braved the undulating hills among the vineyards today in one of LRC’s flagship endurance races in the Sidmouth Gutbuster in mostly fine but windy conditions. Club president David “Strawb”Anderson  over-hauled a tiring Shaun O’Reagan on the final climb to the finish line to claim first place by a narrow 18 seconds.  Shaun’s second place was impressive due to the fact he was carrying an injury throughout the event. Making up the podium in third place was Johnno Claridge who was also the fastest runner over the course in 44:09. the fastest female was Amy Lamprecht in 48:34.

The Division 2  3km hcp was won by one of the clubs new junior runners, Zeke Lanham in a strong performance from Ella Boxhall, once again in second place and Ivy O’Byrne in third. Some of the field had an additional handicap when a rogue loose horse menaced them on the return journey to the finish. Well done for holding your nerve and completing the race. It appears the results correlated post race were incorrect in the junior divisions, however the correct race times have been posted in the results page on this website.  Fastest runners were Kurt Gay and Ella Boxhall at 4:09 and 4:36 per km respectively.

The Division 3 race over 2km was won by a confident Damon White (He tipped himself to win) 🙂 from Averyl Quinn in second for the third time in a row and Milo Porter in third place. Fastest male was Luke McHugh in a rate of 3:56 per km while the fastest female was Averyl Quinn at 4:35 per km.

Special thanks to our Division 2 girls who cooked the BBQ …… Sales were strong with everything sold out!

Next week with are back in town at the Youngtown Memorial Oval for the Ultrain Youngtown 5km Trail as we gear up for next endurance challenge of the Lilydale Larder Lope the following week.
