Joe Low Head

Joe Rogers Snr today took out the Kurt & Doris Geier Low Head 6km in perfect running conditions. After two consecutive second places in the first races of the year, the breakthrough came when he held out an improving Kate Clark in 2nd place and Robyn Beattie in third. Joe celebrated the win with a dip in the East Beach surf afterwards. The win couldn’t come at a better time with the Roger’s family about to embark on the trip of a lifetime heading to Cypress and Greece for four months. Fastest times for the day were John Claridge in 21:03 and Amy Lamprecht in 25:14.

In the junior divisions Nathan Cairns came away with the win followed closely by Gabby and Hope Darsaklis. Fastest runners were the back-marker Corey Stanley at 3:29 per km and Ella Boxhall at 4:09 per km. Another large field in the division 3 section was won by Raiph Triffett for his first win for the club. Just 19 seconds behind was Harry Darsaklis for second followed by 3rd place getter Alex Zegveld who appears to have recovered from being unwell last week. The fastest run rate was achieved by Averyl Quinn with 4:18 per km and Luke McHugh a slick 3:49 per km.

A week off for Easter and we are back for an 8 km at Bishopsbourne. A small plate for afternoon tea is requested
