Maxi

A perfect Autumn day greeted a field of 49 runners for the Newnham Meat Services 6.4km Hcp held over the new North Bank course. Highlighting the day was Max Loffel winning the inaugural event by 25 seconds from David “Strawb” Anderson and Shaun O’Regan in third. Max appeared to enjoy the fast flat course as did much of the field judging by the many positive comments afterwards. fastest times were recorded by Austin O’Byrne  in 22:55 and Ally Wrigley in 27:42.

In division 2 Kurt Gay held out the ever consistent Ella Boxhall by 11 seconds who just pipped Charlotte Gregory by a further one second for third. It was Kurt’s first win with LRC after he suffered a season ending injury after only a handful of races in 2014. Ella was also fastest female at 4:19 per km and Corey Stanley in a swift 3:28 per km.

Division 3 the fastest female in 4:17 per km was also the race winner. Chloe White ran a great race to hold out Averyl Quinn for second place and Oliver Walker in third. Fastest male was Luke McHugh at a km rate of 3:50. It has been great to see all the juniors encouraging one another and displaying great sportsmanship….. well done.

Next week we hit the rolling vineyards of Rowella for the Sidmouth Gutbuster in the first endurance race of the 2015 calendar. Numbers have been good in the lead up races for everyone to now attempt the first race in the endurance challenge series.
