sam race 3Gt news

Todays George Town News Express 6k at Low Head was tackled by 44 hardy runners. Our junior divisions co-ordinator, Sam Wierenga, won todays race to the lighthouse and back. The was very special for two reasons: 1 – this was Sam’s first win with the club after 60+ race! and 2 – because the second place getter was her husband Pete Wierenga! Taking out third place was Ricky Markham.

The fastest male in division one 6k was Matthew Zegveld in a time of 21.11 and the fastest female was Amy Lampretch in a time of 24 minutes flat.

A course change was made for the junior races today which saw them go for a run on the beach instead of the road – this was a great a success and it looks like it’ll become a part of our racing calendar – thanks for the suggestion Joe and the marking Scott Jones 🙂

In the divisions two 2.5k (trail/beach) race, an exuberant Thomas Cooper took line honours. Sebastian Frost came in second and Lani Tai third. The fastest male in the division two race was Ryan Holloway and the fastest female was Mackenzie Roberts.

In the divisions three 1.5k (beach) race, Archer Rogers came first from Amy Lewis and Sisi Tai who came in third. The fastest male in the division three race was Joseph Rogers Jnr and the fastest female was Averyl Quinn.

A big thanks to Pete Wierenga for being a great race director today!  Full Results can be found here 🙂

Next week is another out of town run as we hit the hills of the aptly named Hillwood for a 10k.  It should also be noted that next week is the Don Flanagan Memorial race and is sponsored by Doris and Kurt Geier.  Happy running till then!
