Robyn

In fine conditions front marker Robyn Beatty won the Wes Jones Memorial 12km handicap today. A good field of 45 runners faced a return headwind on the out and back course. Robyn stretched her lead in the late stages of the race to win comfortably from second place getter Ricky Markham followed by the ever consistent Tracy McHugh in third. Fastest male was Austin O’Byrne in 45:13 while the fastest female was Amy Lamprecht in 49:28. It was good to have family members of Wes Jones in the field with grandsons Ben and Elliot and Ben’s wife Sam carrying on the family tradition by competing as well as once again sponsoring the event.

In division 2 Corey Stanley ran through the majority of the field to record his first win for the year from Jj Tai in second and Charlotte Gregory in third. No surprises with Corey also recording the fastest time at a rate of 3:20 per km while the fastest female was Ella Boxhall in a rate of 4:13 per km.

Division 3 saw a return to the club of Bree Ikin with victory in a slick run rate of 3:46 per km which was the fastest female rate to second place Thomas O’Byrne and Jack Triffett in third. Fastest male was Luke McHugh in a rate of 3:50 per km.

Thanks to all for providing a plate for afternoon tea. Next weeks race provides a bit of respite from the last couple of weeks when the Pasta Merchant hosts the shorter Carr Villa 6.2km Hcp.
