Our season relaunch was held at Tailrace today 23 May 2026, and what an event it was!

48 runners across 3 distances, numerous volunteers, and of course all the friends and family that turned up really created a buzzing atmosphere. The route was a flat out and back along a concrete/gravel footpath, with a couple of loops thrown in at the start.

At 10am the Short Course (2.5km) and Juniors (1.5km) kicked off together, then the Long Course (5.2km) started at 10.45am. The handicap/staggered start meant there was plenty of friendly banter and conversation happening at the start line while everyone awaited their time to take off! But the smell of a free sausage sizzle was serious motivation to get back to that finish line ASAP, so the race was on.

🥇🥈🥉Juniors 1.5km: First place was taken out by Logan Webb, followed by Cleo Calvert who was seconds ahead of Hugo Steen in third!
⚡️Fastest Female: Molly Pilkington – 4:06
⚡️Fastest Male: Hugo Steen – 4:28

🥇🥈🥉Short Course 2.5km: Olivia Calvert got to break through the finishing tape first for the 2.5km, then Tim Reese was second to cross the line followed by Stephen Rowlings in third.
⚡️Fastest Female: Poppy Steen – 10:12

🥇🥈🥉Long Course 5.2km: It came down to an exciting finish with Hamish Ayre claiming first place after overtaking Emma Hutchinson who crossed the line only 2 seconds later! Third place was comfortably held by Katie Proctor.
