We gathered out in Westbury today, and at about 9 am this morning it was yet to get past 0 degrees, it was bloody cold. No matter when the race is held at Westbury it seems to be cold and or raining, thanks to the Jones family sponsoring we had a great day racing. For those not aware the Jones family are connected via Wes Jones, who has the most runs for the club and is about 200 runs clear of the next most. His son Barry was nice enough to bring his dads 700 run LRC top along today.

In the Division One race Club President Andrew Sertori managed to take out the win, no point writing like this isn’t me, I won so yeah about time, been a few years. Had to catch speedy Barry Sproston who turned into Kipchoge and started flying, Paige Wierenga had a handy lead but was nice enough to miss the turn off, allowing me to sneak in for victory. I did try to call out to her very quietly, I will blame being puffed. Paige and Barry were split by less than a second for the rest of the podium, a great run by both of them, I know Barry ran an outstanding course PB. After the win I rushed home to watch Sydney flog Essendon, needless to say I may be moving to a remote country after today and never be seen again. At least I was able to wear a rare new pair of shoes today.

Back to the LRC race, I guess that is why people read this. The fastest female today was Katie Proctor who is running very well, the female club champion is very close fought this year with several ladies in contention. The fastest male was Matthew Zegveld with another impressive run, even if he accused me of sandbagging all year. He was nice enough to run a 5k cool down and look for new member Jasmine Cardno, who recently moved from warm Cairns. Welcome aboard Jasmine, apologies for the icy weather and also for Rod advising you the wrong street to turn down, and then packing up the signs so you got even more lost, we are usually nice people and hope you come back…well some of the others are nice.

Division Two has seen a lot of runners this year taking on the difficult challenge of going all out in the speedy 2.5k race. In first place today was Jack Barnard with an outstanding run, rumor has it he was threatening to retire from running, he might reconsider after a great run. Second was Millie Sertori, who needs to go tidy her room still and third place was Kate Lee-Archer who finally replaced her running shoes that she has had since grade 9 PE in 1997 at St Pats.

The poor kids in Division 3 ran in the coldest conditions of the day. Returning to run today was Noah Van Der Vlist taking out first place, I think he ignored his mothers suggestions of a warm up and still won the race. In second place and not far of the win was Mason Hill, and the speedy Olive Howard was in third. Olive was also the fastest female. The fastest male was Alexander Murray. A good run by all the kids.

Results for today are here.

Thank you again to the Jones family for cheering and joining in to run and supporting the club. Thank you to all of our volunteers.

Next week we are off to Sidmouth for a gutbuster, the course will be slightly shorter, just have to trim a little off one of the hills, which only odd people will be upset about.  This will run at the normal time of 11:15, but please remember THERE IS NO DIVISION 2 or 3 !!! they will run at the half marathon instead to make up for it. This race is sponsored by The Running Edge, if you are not running and can help marshal please let us know.

Entries are open now.
