Race 10 Report – 2026 LRC Season
Saturday 1 August 2026 – Launceston Podiatry St Leonards Track
Saturday 1 August 2026 – Launceston Podiatry St Leonards Track
It was a full and exciting morning for the Launceston Running Club on 1 August 2026, with runners set to race either 5000m, 3000m or 1400m on the track! It was a mass-start for each event with a blind handicap, meaning no-one knew who won the handicap race until the results were announced.
Congratulations to all runners and thank you to Launceston Podiatry for sponsoring the race and for being at the track providing information about your clinic and cheering everyone on!
We also had Urban Shine Legana with their energy-infused hydration teas for sample and purchase, and runners tested out new shoes for their race thanks to the free shoe trial organised by Intersport Launceston. Thank you everyone for creating an atmosphere that was absolutely buzzing!
There was an exciting race to the finish for both Charles Gunn and Shane Bishop, having run the whole 5000m together. It came down to the final straight where Charles came through with a stronger kick at 150m to go, pulling away to finish just 3 seconds ahead of Shane. Both finished with blistering times!
