The hills of Hillwood were alive with the footsteps of race 5 of the Season. The weather gods once again smiled upon the club and provided near perfect running conditions. The banter on the start line was a fun to witness, runners egging each other on, setting goals to chase each other down or to try to stay ahead, highlighting the joy and challenge of handicap racing. At the end of the race Chris Marsh capitalised with a convincing win in a quality field, winning in a time of 1:09. Barry Sproston was not far behind coming in second with Mark Littlechild taking out third. The fastest male of the day was Matthew Zegveld with a cracking time of 36:53 and that fastest female was Amy Lamprecht coming in with a time of 42:55.
The short course was a spectators delight with participants running laps of the Hillwood football oval confines. John Fawcett was the first to depart and managed to hold of some very fast finishing backmarkers to claim the win. Melissa Jessup was closing in fast to take second and a blistering run saw Charlie Reese take third position overall and first in the juniors. The fastest junior male was Charlie Reece and the fastest junior female was Jada Rawlings.
The juniors got the racing underway under beautiful blue skies. Harvey Tibbals took out first place in front of his brother Lewis Tibbals, ensuring the top of the podium was kept in the family. Jensen Littlechild ran a solid run taking out third place. The fastest male was Marcus Finnerty and the fastest female was Lucy Webb.
