Race 13 of the 2026 Launceston Running Club season has been run and won!

Today we headed to White Hills for the Van Dieman Brewing 9.75k, and what a difference it made running this course without the usual dead-of-winter conditions!

We were greeted with some amazing running weather and beautiful views across the countryside. Although, we have to admit, we did miss seeing the snow-capped mountains that have featured at this race in years gone by. 😊

The long course followed a picturesque loop through the rolling countryside of White Hills, with views stretching as far as the eye could see. It’s certainly not an easy course, starting with a long climb and plenty of undulations along the way, but runners are rewarded with a fantastic long downhill to finish.

Our junior and short-course runners had their own challenge, completing two and three trips up the long hill respectively. At 1.85k and 2.85k, both races were also a little longer than their usual distances, making White Hills a tough course for everyone!

A special mention to today’s long-course winner, Colin Smith. Colin had already had a busy morning helping mark the course before lining up as our front marker. He then had the job of trying to stay ahead of the entire field and did exactly that, holding everyone off to take the Race 13 win. Not a bad morning’s work! πŸ˜„

Soup, Savs & a Big Thank You

The soup and savs were a big hit again this year and raised some much-needed funds for the club.

A huge thank you to Mel for organising us all, along with everyone who cooked, supplied food, served, helped clean up and, of course, helped eat it! 🍲🌭

Thank you also to Van Dieman Brewing for sponsoring today’s race and to Rob Tatchell for once again being such a wonderful host.

And a very big thank you to all of our volunteers who jumped in to help us put on another fun event for the club. We simply couldn’t run these events without you.

Can You Volunteer at Our Final Race?

We have just one race left in our 2026 season, and we still need volunteers to help make it happen.

If you can help at Hadspen next Saturday, please add your name to our volunteer roster:

It pays to volunteers –Β Intersport Launceston has very generously donated enough limited-edition Steigen running socks for us to give away two pairs at each race to our volunteers.

Each week we’ll randomly draw:

  • one junior/short-course volunteer; and
  • one long-course volunteer.

These limited-edition socks aren’t available in store, so it’s a lovely little extra thank you to the people who help keep our club races running.
