We tried something different today with a mass start and a sealed handicap for all divisions at Heritage Forest. Sadly this was the first year we had to go without the Scottdale to Bridport but the Heritage Forest courses seemed a nice compromise. It was also great to be able to have our short course runners with us and on a new course. Everyone got a medal after their run in all divisions.
The AFL decided to schedule a footy game at UTAS stadium and clash with our run, typical AFL not checking the LRC calendar. We considered adjusting the course then remembered it was Hawthorn and Gold Coast- so safe to say no one cared about going there.
Anyhoo after applying the handicaps today’s winner was Daniel Van Der Vlist with a cracking pace and a well deserved victory. In second place was the super speedy Matthew Zegveld, recently recovered from covid and still running at an outstanding clip, what a pri…I mean well done. In third place was the always smiling Karen Lovell with a great run. Our fastest male today was Matthew Zegveld, well it was Tim Reese on the bike I guess, but we will give it to Matthew. The fastest female was Deb Pauna, she makes running look easy out there.
Well done to all our participants it was a bit muddy and windy out there so was a bit of a slog. A special thank you to our 11 volunteers for stepping up and helping today, Peter, Kurt, Georgie, Sharni, Millie, Chelsea, Charlie, Joseph, Stephen, Kristen (who is not even a member) and of course Tim, who was out on the bike all day. Without you all the run does not happen.
In Division two it was a hot start, with quite a few hip and shoulders going on as people tried to get to the front. After the handicaps our winner was Karen Gambles who is our sponsor through Paragon, well done Karen. In second was the ever improving Swanah Tarrawally and in third was Sharni Long- cmon Sharni win a race already, almost 60 without a win.
The fastest male was Ricky Barnewell who celebrated by running off and breaking his finger. Jada Rowlings took out fastest female (and obviously fastest junior female) with another great run. Charlie Reese was chasing Ricky down and was our fastest junior male.
Division 3 saw the kids looking pretty excited at the mass start and it was another speedy race. After the handicaps were applied the winner was Sylvester Tarrawally, good to have you back running mate. In second place was Freddy Barnewell and third was Flynn Murray. Flynn Murray was the fastest male and the fastest female was Emily Padgett, back to make the club champion interesting in the girls.
Thanks to Intas insurance for supporting todays run. We appreciate your ongoing support.

Just a reminder cross the line once and take your chip off if you go back near the timer- eg to hold the ribbon, otherwise I have to listen to the treasurer moan about your chip, and she may seem kindly at run club, but she has a temper.
Next week we are off to St Leonards Track where we will try one more sealed handicap- please let us know what you think of them, if they work, if you hate them etc, can only find out by trying these things. Entries now open on the website.
Our kids end of year function should be finalised this week. Our end of year adults function is Friday September 23rd at Chromys at Relbia. We will put the ticket sales up soon. Hopefully both of these finalised this week.
If you have a shield from last year please return it to the club or give it to someone who can bring it back, we need them for this years dinner.
Please note as usual the feature race entries will open 2 weeks out and close the week before to allow for the sweep- will explain this next week for those new to the club.
I wonder if Lance Franklin is staying at the Swans, guess he will see how he feels after we win this years premiership.
