Today Anne-Marie Loader took out the Flanagan’s Flying 10k Blue Ribbon Hcp in cool but comfortable running conditions in George Town. Anne-Marie confessed to not being a fan of running at her presentation speech and had got involved so she didn’t have to wait in the car while her husband Paul competed. She is now a passionate running convert and fully deserved her win after showing improved performance in previous races.

Anne-Marie required a last ditch intense effort to hold out Austin O’Byrne in an exciting final sprint, who ran out of course in attempting to reel her in and fell just 3 seconds short in the end! Two second places in a row for Austin and three for the year is the reward so far for consistent performances this season for Austin.
Third place was Ashley Brooke who has also been in the pointy end of finishes in recent races. Fastest male was young star Chester James-Smith at a rate of 3:29 per km while the fastest female was the consistent Amy Lamprecht in a sub four minute of 3:59 per km.

Because of some major works the Blue Ribbon Div 2 and 3 race courses were slightly longer than usual. Div 2 winner was Erin Giles, with place getters Eliza Anderson 2nd, and Ella Boxhall 3rd who was also fastest female at 4:10 per km. Fastest male in 3:48 per km was Alex Davies who dodged pedestrians by leaping bushes in his commitment. A record Div 3 5th win in succession for this race by Jai Davies has set a record that will be hard to beat in any division and topped off with fastest time in a rate of 4:09 per km. Great effort Jai! Luke McHugh was 2nd and Chloe White 3rd. Fastest female was Chloe in a rate of 4:36 per km. Well done to all the Div 2 and Div 3 runners.

Next weeks race is the Michon Int. 6km Youngtown trail starting at the Yongtown Memorial Oval. A new race for the LRC which means a great opportunity for personal bests for all that compete! The South L’ton Footy Club will host LRC with a BBQ and open bar for refreshments after the race, while the committee will meet briefly afterwards. Happy running……. and we’ll see you there.
