Race 5 Report – 2026 LRC Season
Saturday 27 June 2026 – Hillwood
Saturday 27 June 2026 – Hillwood
Frost was thick on the ground on the morning of Saturday 27 June 2026 – yet 46 runners were ready to hit the bitumen for the Long, Short and Junior courses for the Launceston Running Club 2026 Race 5 at Hillwood. Thanks to 145 Financial as the race sponsor!
By 10am the course was marked, the marshals were positioned, the equipment was set up, and the runners were geared up ready to run. Plenty of people were bouncing around at the start line keeping warm whilst they eagerly awaited the arrival of their handicap start time. But it didn’t take long to warm up, as the sun was shining gloriously. What a stunning day!!
The Junior and Short Course runners completed 3 and 5 laps of the gravel track around Hillwood Oval respectively, and the Long Course left the oval grounds to complete a scenic and hilly 10km loop that finished with one lap of the gravel track. Excitement was high as the winners became visible and were cheered through that final lap!
