Well I tested positive for covid so the Longford race was cancelled today…. oh what you all still went ahead without me? wow, umm thats awkward…. Well I handed over the report today as I have no idea what happened so here goes…….

Continuing the theme of doing the President’s jobs while he has been struck with Covid, this is the treasurer writing the report.

It was a coolish day in Longford with a lot of cloud cover, but that didn’t stop Mark Brown from winning or wearing his trademark Bunnings wide rim hat. Mark ran strongly and didn’t even let ongoing traffic or the warning from the turnaround marshal to stay put until the car had passed stop him from powering home. The always smiling Annie (who DID stop for traffic) came in a close second, and Ricky Barnewall pushed past Sam Wierenga to take both 3rd place, and Fastest Male. Fastest Female was Sarah Menzie with a great run returning from injury.

In Division 2 it was a day for the Juniors with Joseph Sepek having a fantastic run taking out 1st, Annie Howard continuing to show podium form in 2nd, and Phoebe Jackson-Mills bringing home 3rd place. Fastest U18 female was Jada Rowlings, and fastest U18 Male (but still beaten by his Mum) was Josh Slocombe by a very slim margin from Charlie Reese who is running strongly this year… must be an advantage to live with the SuperCoach.

For a nice change, the Division 3 runners had no rain to run in, which resulted in some very quick times! Audrey Dunlop took home 1st place from a super-fast finishing Flynn Murray (also fastest male) and 3rd place was Tessa Van Der Vlist who was also fastest female.

Thanks to Kate for doing a fantastic job as Race Director, and to all our marshals and volunteers – the club can literally not run without you all, and I urge everyone to marshal at least once during the year (like volunteering every 10 parkruns).

Thanks as well to our sponsor Scott Smith Orthodontics who will breathe a sigh of relief not having to replenish the jackpot for the first time in a few years.

Next week we are at Carr Villa for a lovely, hilly run around the cemetery. I’m sure it will be much more enjoyable than watching the Swans beat the Crows.

Stay tuned for the President returning to provide his awesome race reports next week, but thanks for reading!
