Matty Zegfeld recovered from soreness after his maiden marathon at Ross 6 days earlier to claim the Boxhall Steel 5km Hcp today in a close finish with Lorraine Lee-Archer just several seconds behind in second and Anne Fyfe not too far adrift in third. Matthew has shown good form most of the year and pushing hard in recent weeks for a win. Fastest runners over the challenging course were the ever consistent Austin O’Byrne in a time of 17:41 and Amy Lamprecht in 20:59.
The iconic Country Club Ten calcutta was held after the race with over $1000.00 punted into the pool with good many taken for a large number of runners, such is the predicted evenness within the field. Good luck to everyone who has bought their favourite. Don’t forget produce will be provided for the BBQ from Rob Rik Dale Deer farm so come along and support the club for the last race of the 2015 calendar.
In Division 2 Bailey Hume made a winning return with the win from Ivy O’Byrne with Bianca Holloway in third. Fastest times were recorded by Ella Boxhall in a rate of 4:17 and Jj Tai in 4:39 just pipping Bailey by 1 second per km.
Division 3 saw Chloe White claim victory by 9 seconds from Thomas Cooper in second and Joe Rogers Jnr in third. Fastest runners in 4:01 and 4:26 per km were Like McHugh and Chloe White respectively.
