Race 10 of the 2024 season, the Paragon Advisers and Accountants 8k, took place at Westbury today, delivering another spectacular day of running cool conditions and finishing with plenty of sunshine. A big thank you goes out to all the participants, supporters, and volunteers who came together to make this race a memorable one!
Long Course Overview (8 km):
Paige Wierenga took off in the 8k long course with a mission to get warm and ran to victory. Malachi Evans won the family battle to come into second place, followed closely by Leigh Evans in third and Ricky Markham in fourth. Shane Bishop was the fastest male, with a superb time of 28:25.6. Sarah Menzie was fastest female with a top time of 35:10.0.
Short Course Action (2.5 km):
In the short course, John Fawcett held off a fast-finishing field to claim the win. Leigh Jessup finished in second, Tim Reese in third and Stephen Rowlings in fourth. Charlie Reese was the fastest junior male in 8:42.7, with Phoebe Jackson-Mills the fastest junior female in 11:25.2.
Junior Course Highlights (1.5 km):
Sebastian Abel was determined and had the added pressure of his grandmothers sponser race to claim the win to beat fast finishing Chloe Marsh with Darcy Stack in 3rd. Sebastian Abel was the fastest male in 8:03.5 with Chloe Marsh the fastest female with a time of 7:45.0.
