Race 12 of the 2026 Launceston Running Club season took us to Grindelwald today for the Nova Land Consulting 5.5k.

We were greeted with pretty much perfect running weather – the long course runners enjoyed three laps around the picturesque lake.

There was just one small detail… our 5.5k turned out to be closer to 5.95k. 😜 But who cares when you’re having fun, right?

A huge thank you to our race sponsor, Nova Land Consulting, for sponsoring today’s event.

We were also very happy to welcome Urban Shine Legana back to the club today. They brought along plenty of delicious samples of their energy and hydrating teas for runners to try. Thank you for joining us again, Urban Shine!

And, as always, a big thank you to all of our volunteers who jumped in and helped us put on another fun morning of racing. We simply couldn’t run these events without you.

The Australian Cross Country Championships!

We have some very exciting news this week.

As part of the LRC Junior Athlete Development Program, Asha Pilkington applied for and was awarded club sponsorship to represent Tasmania at the Australian Athletics Cross Country Championships in Ballarat next weekend (generously, the club sponsorship was matched by race sponsor Nova Land Consulting!).

We’d also like to congratulate the Gunn family, with Charles, Freddie and Isobel Gunn also selected to represent Tasmania in Ballarat.

How amazing is that! Good luck to all four of you. Enjoy the experience, run well and know that everyone at LRC is very proud of you. 💙

Volunteer Roster and Weekly Volunteer Draw

Without volunteers, our club does not run, so please consider putting your name down to help at one of our remaining races.

Thanks to the generous support of Intersport Launceston, we’re also continuing our weekly volunteer random draws, with two pairs of limited-edition Steigen running socks given away each week:

  • One pair for a Junior/Short Course volunteer
  • One pair for a Long Course volunteer

These socks aren’t available in store, so volunteering might come with a pretty handy little bonus!
