Race 16 of the 2024 season, sponsored by Launceston Podiatry Clinic, took place in wet conditions at St Leonards. It’s not every day you get the chance to run on the track, but it the wet conditions it helped to keep our feet dry. A big thank you to all the participants, supporters, and volunteers who made this event a memorable one!
Long Course Overview (5000m):
With a mass start it was a mystery to everyone who was going to come away with the win. Robyn Beattie claimed victory in the 5000m long course. Susan Kerr had a strong run to place second, closely followed by Stuart Wright in third. Paige Wierenga took the fourth spot. Patrick Moroney posted the fastest male time at 19:20:9, while Cassandra Sheehan returned with excellent form as the fastest female, finishing in 21:03:2.
Short Course Action (3000m):
The short course saw a strong win from Mason Hill and taking out the Samantha Hellyer memorial trophy. Lewis Tibballs secured second place ahead of Mother Lauren Tibballs in third and first senior. Lisa Morrison rounded out the top four. Charlie Reese clocked the fastest male time at 11:48:2, showing his impressive speed, Violet Morrison the fastest female in 15:00:5.
Junior Course Highlights (1 mile):
Zaria Bramich took the top honors in the juniors and collecting the Alex Walley memorial shield. Chloe Marsh was hot on her tail to claim second with Sebastian Able and Henry Morrison in third and fourth. Chloe Marsh recorded the fastest female time at 7:15:6 and Henry Morrison the males in 7:37.6.

Next week, get ready for Race 17 – Windermere. We should have the food van back for this event to have you all snacks sorted.
