Today we ran the last race of the 2018 LRC season – where did the time go?
Rod Howell who is busy training for a marathon in a few weeks, ran very strongly over our new “challenging” Pipers Brook Vineyard course, and won the 2018 Ninth Island 10k feature race! He was rewarded with a magnum of Ninth Island wine! Meg Lade and Mel Hill made up 2nd and 3rd places. They are both off to the ITU world Triathlon Championships to represent Australia (on the Gold Coast) in a couple of weeks, so their training is coming along very well!
The fastest male was Brodie Triffett in a time of 39:31 and the fastest female was Katherine Mills in a time of 45:53!
All of the competitors received a bottle of Ninth Island wine today – who doesn’t like to run for wine??
In the division two 2.5k race Thomas Cooper continued his trademark backward finish when he won his race. Charlie Mills came in second from Alex Zegveld, The fastest male was Luke McHugh in a km rate of 3:45 and the fastest female was Chelsea Rogers in a km rate of 5:15.
In the division three 1.5k race Samual Lindsay raced to the finish line to win from Annabelle Pyke and Joseph Rogers-Jnr. The fastest male was Joseph Roger-Jnr in a km rate of 4:13 and the fastest female was Annabelle Pyke in a km rate of 4:37.
Today was the juniors presentation day – all the juniors were rewarded for their efforts this year! (I’ll get a list of the awards and paste them here shortly ;-)).. Apart from the awards, the kids all received a party bag, a cupcake with their face it and sang the club happy 70th birthday 🙂
The whole day was a fabulous end to the 2018 season – with the Coffee Devil providing us with delicious coffee and the Crave Kitchen van providing us with amazing burgers!
