It was a dark and stormy …hang on that’s Snoopy’s line. It was wet and cold at the University today for the race around the campus sponsored by Launceston Podiatry Clinic, a long time supporter of the club. It was cold and damp and that led to a few scratching (soft people know who they are), but we saw blistering quick times in all divisions.
The winner today was the lovely Susan Kerr who jetted home with a great run, she looked comfortable out on course and her lovely smile can be clearly seen in the finish picture, I am not going to make fun of Sue because she seems like she could beat the s**t out of me. Though I was wondering where the President secret service where when she came in for a hug….ummm I don’t do hugs. Well done Sue on a great run today, you are an outstanding, supportive member of the local running community. In second was Steve Fitzallen, now he salutes the president, much preferred to a hug. Steve was back to his best (took the handbrake off) and almost cracked sub 20, well done Steve. In third place was the always cheerful Karen Lovell with an outstanding run to complete the podium.
The fastest female was Sarah Menzie, that club champion is hotly contested this year, can we entice Deb Pauna to a short run ? and the fastest male was Matty Zegveld, I won’t give away if he sealed club champion up today (he did).
In our division two race, runners took on a new course and the winner was Cameron Slocombe, much to his mothers annoyance (think she is jealous) good run Cam. In second place was Annie Howard , running well, with I presume a knee injury, or maybe its fake, but well done. Third Place was Michael Howard, he was very quick today, whoops I went too easy guessing your handicap. The fastest under 18 male today was Charlie Reese, maybe he should coach his dad on how to run. The fastest under 18 female was Jada Rowlings, with another great run in a consistently good season.
In division three it was probably the worst of the conditions and the kids were waiting until the last possible moment to take all their rain coats off. They also tackled the new course and it was won by Olive Howard, Olive was also the fastest female and she is proving to be a good little runner , new to the club this year. In second place was Tessa Van Der Vlist and in third probably realising his sister wouldnt share her chocolate so he better get his own was Noah Van Der Vlist. Well done to all the kids in tough conditions.

Next week we are off to Longford sponsored by Scott Smith Orthodontists, the entries will be on the site in the usual spot. Remember entries close at 8 for everyone!! This race has a jackpot if you can break the course record for male and female runners, Sam Clifford and Milly Clark have the records, so good luck.
