After the footy last night it was tempting to cancel all sport , but instead Today was our 5k run at the Tailrace park sponsored by the wonderful Launceston Running Buddies. It has become a day where a lot of people come along and try out a run with the club, wearing a lot of red and white (brilliant colours). Today Tamara Webb came home first to take out the race. Sure she is not a club member and a bloody ring in, but through gritted teeth and a fake smile we enjoyed her win. No in all seriousness Tamara is a wonderful lady and she had a blistering run in todays conditions. In second place was Karen Gambles , only 50 seconds behind, she is also our wonderful naming right sponsor for the senior shirts. In third was Cassie Sheehan with a quick time, I think it was her, every week I get her and her sister mixed up, lucky we have names on shirts.

(control c, control v) The fastest male today was Matthew Zegveld and the fastest female was Sarah Menzie, well done to both of those impressive runners. Thank you for everyone coming out in the beautiful sunshine for a great run. Thank you to Kat and Scott for sponsoring the race, shame Scotty was spooked by the start list, pulling out when he sore he was starting new the president (I would have gone easy on you mate).

Division 2 was another fantastic race with first going to Cameron Slocombe, a little birdie told me he actually trained this week too, well he can nick off to the back of the pack now. In second was one of the buddies Lisa Mccarthy, with a very determined run, in third was Jacob Heger, who started with his sister, must have inspired him to run off, I know that would make me run away too. Our fastest junior female was Jada Rowlings and fastest under 18 male was Harry Jackson.

Division 3 was a great contest as well (all the races were close today). In first was Lucy Pickering , just ahead of a fast finishing Spencer Fish. Third place went to Darcy Staak, just edging out his brother. The fastest  male was Flynn Murray and fastest female was Olive Howard. A great run by all the kids.

Next week we are off the Lilydale for the lope, it is really hilly ……. but it is run in conjunction with the North Launceston Athletic Club. This year we are starting at the Lilydale Hall and not the tavern, so please do not use the tavern car park.  There is plenty of parking at the hall and surrounds and there are toilets on site. There are some great random draw prizes, but you need to be at the presentation to win. There are prizes for the fastest new finishers, so if you have never entered the lope before, now is the time to try.  We will keep you posted over the week.
