I Had the “pleasure” of driving home with today’s winner and she turned to me and said “be nice about me in the race report.” Well I guess I best try to adhere to that request. Passing Rod Howell at his marshal point he said “Todays winner is a gorgeous lady.” I thought to myself that Carmen Electra is not a member of the Launceston Running Club, turns out the lovely Georgie Sertori (the club treasurer and today’s race director) had taken out the win. We were greeted with rainy, windy conditions and Georgie battled hard to victory, sure she set the course, changed it this year mind you, but in all honesty it was a hard fought victory with an impressive pace, she has overcome a LOT of injuries to get to this point, if there is a way to injure yourself, Georgie has found it, enjoy the win.
In second was Louise Padgett, who was very speedy up the hills today, she was also rocking a bit of the harry high pant, but it seemed to work, as she was lightening quick out there. In third was Michelle Barnard, the out and back suits her, less likely to get lost, and she put up a wonderful effort to complete our top 3. The fastest female was Sarah Menzie, another lady who is always encouraging out there and running really well, leveling up her head to head battle with Caine. Fastest male was Matthew Zegveld, show off…. I mean well done buddy.
Fantastic running by all in the gross conditions with many pulling out at the sight of a few clouds, not naming names (Lorraine Lee-Archer).
Division 2 was a great battle with Emily Slocombe finding a gear to take out her first win of the season, unfortunately her declaration that “Sydney Suck” will see her serve a one race suspension. She had a wonderful run and has improved a lot this year. Swanah Tarawally had her first run of the year and has improved out of site with a smashing pace to take out second. In third was Jack Barnard, who took of so well, his dad went searching for him, wondering where he was, that’s how he quick he takes off I guess. The fastest male and female were the Jackson siblings Harry and Rosie, they glide along out there making it look easy.
The division 1 race probably had the best of the conditions, and Melia Bugg returned from her overseas training camp to storm home in first place. She was closely followed by Darcy Staak, one of the most consistent young runners in the club and Chelsea Sertori who finishing while flinging her shoe off. The fastest female was Emily Padgett and the fastest male was Marcus Finearty, some outstanding running by our outstanding juniors.

Thank you to today’s sponsor Cranes Combined, without the support of our sponsors these runs wouldn’t happen. Thank you also to our outstanding course marshals, without them we certainly could not run, especially in our Division 3, if you can ever help us out please let us know.
