Cayb Woods flew around the tricky Grindelwald course today to take out a close run today. Despite the forecasts we ended up with a really nice day , the course was tricky and muddy in parts but Cayb was able to get around and take out the race with a fantastic effort. We have been through the archives and can confirm that today’s winner was treated to the worst finish line ribbon holding in the history of not only our running club, but all running clubs in the country since 1898, well done Josh and Col. In second place today was Sharni Long, apparently only finding out she was in the long course after Tim entered her and even though she considered not running she came close to taking out the race. Third place was the ever speedy Matthew Zegveld who switched his hat backwards at some stage in the race, perhaps that is the secret to speed, might try it next week. A special mention to the lovely Sue Kerr for crossing the finish line at least 455 times during and after the race.
The fastest female today was Katie Proctor, who was surprised to take out the award but ran a very impressive pace today. The fastest male was a tight contest , Ricky Barnewall taking it out, there was 8 seconds between the fastest three males today, even the 6th fastest gent was within 6 minutes, well done to all those speedy 6 runners…. Nah well done to the actual fast runners.
In division two it was Charlie Reese taking out first place, Charlie decided to celebrate by crossing the timing mat 350 times during the day, well done Charlie. In second place was Hamish Duffy in his return to the club and they were followed by an impressive run from Annie Howard in third. Special mention to Andy Oliver as the first senior and wearing that awful Carlton top, they ended up winning today so guess he got the last laugh.
The fastest male today was Harry Jackson, who was actually beaten by our fastest female and his sister, Rosie Jackson. Harry was tired though from a busy week, so revenge will be on the cards next week I assume.
In the kids race Blake Staak broke through for a well deserved win, he has been knocking on the door all year, always runs his best and took out a great win. In second place was Olive Howard , followed by Jock Barnewall, a boy who takes his chocolate selection very seriously!! The fastest female was Olive Howard with a super impressive run today and the fastest male was Flynn Murray with a fantastic run. The spirit and effort in the juniors this year continues to be outstanding.
