She may go for one of the worst sporting teams in the history of mankind but Sharon Gunton was still able to hold off a fast finishing Cassie Sheehan to take out today’s Bishopsbourne 15.3k. The rainy conditions saw a lot of people take the soft option and pull out of the race, not to name names (Leigh Geale). This left 25 brave souls to run around in the wet muddy conditions in Bishopsbourne. Sharon is pretty modest and does not like attention but too bad, you had a great run and a wonderful win. Cassie almost got up in second and third was Sharon’s husband Tim Gunton, great to have them both back running with the club, such a lovely couple.

The fastest male today was Matthew…..oh no it was someone else for a change, Sam Clifford took out the fastest male. I am told he was a little disappointed he struggled around today in 3:09 pace and could not hold the 2:45 pace, yeah me too mate , hate it when that falls away on me, happened at the 10 metre mark for me though. Deb Pauna finished fastest female, she eats the long courses for breakfast, and we will remind Dan that your name is Deborah not Debra.  Thank you to the Badcocks for arranging the hall hire and for everyone who brought food along, it was welcome after a cold run. Missed the start of the football though, but after the way the Swans played today, we should have just partied on at Bishopsbourne.  There was also a dog show at Bishopsbourne today, I don’t have those results to hand yet, but it looked like a rocking way to spend a Saturday.

In Division 2 Paige Wierenga zoomed home to first place leaving the field in her dust with a cracking victory. In second place was Cameron Slocombe who is improving every week and third was taken out by Sharni Long, she is dominating the Reese Cup this year. The fastest under 18 male was Josh Slocombe, his mother asked if we could give the award to someone else as he hasn’t stopped talking about it since, competitive family. The fastest under 18 female was Jada Rowlings, she is taking a lot of club champion points this year with some great running. The club is currently having a full scale investigation into the finish between Peter Lee-Archer and Ricky Markham, looked like some interference might have gone on there, once the commission releases its findings we will report back.

Division 3 copped the worse of the conditions today but 7 brave kids showed up and the winner was Chelsea Sertori with her fastest time of the year and I am sure she is finally tidying her room as I type this report. In second place was Blake Staak, getting closer and closer to a win and always tries his best. Third was Cale Eastley who was also the fastest male, a great run. Our fastest female was Chloe Marsh with a very impressive run.

Thank you to our amazing volunteers , especially on a wet day, giving up your time is very much appreciated, thanks to the Badcocks and Nick Hay for their sponsorship and support, without you the run does not happen.

Next week we are off to Grindelwald for 5.5k around the lake, you can enter that race now.
